  • What did Paul ask Titus to do in Crete?

  • List the characteristics mentioned in this chapter of an elder.

  • List the characteristics mentioned in this chapter of an overseer.

  • How did Paul advise Titus to address the Cretans regarding their false teaching?

APPLICATION:

  • Why do you think there is a "list of qualifications/requirements" for an elder and an overseer? Why do you think Paul asked Titus to "appoint" them?

  • In verse 13, Paul tells Titus to "rebuke them sharply".  How can you rebuke sharply, but in love and in a godly way?

  • Do you know people who confess to know God, but deny Him with their works?  Can you remember a time when you, yourself did this?

To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled.  They profess to know God, but they deny Him by their works.  They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.  {Verses 15-16}
