  • Who was the first one to come to Jesus in this chapter? What did he ask?  How did Jesus respond? How? 
  • Who came to Jesus in Capernaum?  What did he say to Jesus?  How did Jesus respond? How?
  • Who was sick in Peter's house?  What did Jesus do while He was there?  How?
  • What did the Scribe want to do before following Jesus?
  • What happened when Jesus and the disciples were in a boat?  What was Jesus' response? What was the disciples' response before and after?
  • Who met Jesus in the country of the Gadarenes? What did they beg Jesus to do?  

DIG DEEPER:

  • Why was is significant that Jesus touched the leper to heal him?
  • The "title" of this section is called "The Cost of Following Jesus".  How does this section of text answer that statement?
  • What is the text of verses 28-34 a future picture of?
  • One word answer:  What did the leper and the centurion have in common?

APPLICATION:

  • When Jesus touches something, it becomes clean.  Do you need to reach out to Jesus and let Him touch you?
  • Are you willing to pay the cost of following Jesus?  Are you willing to set aside anything that hinders your commitment to Him, including your family?
  • Read verses 23-27 again, picturing the scene in your mind.  What would have been your reaction?  Would Jesus say to you, "Why are you so afraid, O you of little faith?" in any of your current situations?

  • A centurion is an officer in charge of a hundred soldiers. 
  • Peter was married.
  • The boat they were in during the storm was thought to be about 26.5 feet long and about 7.5 feet wide.   • As stated in my ESV notes on verse 16-17: The fact that not all sicknesses have a demonic origin is seen in the distinction between the healings of the sick and the casting out of spirits from those oppressed by demons.
