STUDY:
  • How did the guards react to the angel?
  • What did the angel tell the women about the whereabouts of Jesus?
  • How did the women react when they saw Jesus?
  • How did the chief priests and elders react to the report from the soldiers who guarded Jesus' tomb?  What was their plan, and why do you think they did this rather than just believing Jesus was the true Christ?
  • Verse 16 mentions the eleven disciples, who's missing? (just a test to make sure you read chapter 27!)
  • When the disciples saw Jesus, it says that some worshiped Him and some........what? Why do you think this is?
  • What benediction did Jesus give that ends this chapter, and the book of Matthew?

APPLICATION:

  • The disciples and others saw Jesus' physical body, and yet verse 17 says, "But some doubted."  We don't see Jesus' physical body, but I'm sure some of us still struggle with some sense of doubt.  If you do, what do you doubt?  Ask Jesus to fill this doubt with promise!
  • Read the "Great Commission" in verses 18-20.  How should you respond this?
