Will You Be Axed?

"Bear fruits in keeping with repentance."  {Verse 8}

"Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees.  Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."  {Verse 9}

Repentance, repentance, repentance!  Repentance is not just asking God for forgiveness, but also turning from your sin and running to Jesus.   If you are truly living out repentance, then fruit should be a natural growth from your life.  HUH?  The Bible uses the term "fruit" for outward behavior produced from inward motivation.  This fruit can be good or bad.  For instance, if your heart is bad, then your motivation will produce bad fruit.  If you heart is seeking godliness and repentance, then your outward behavior like good works, changed attitude/behavior, seeds planted in others, being kingdom minded daily, etc., will result in good fruit.  Verse 9 says that the trees (or us humans) who do not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. What is the fire?  HELL.   Are you bearing good fruit?  Are you living in repentance?  Take a good step back and honestly analyze your life.  What kind of fruit are you producing?   Still not sure?  Ask someone who knows you well and you trust.  See what they say.  
What are you going to do with this?  Are you going to start living in repentance and start bearing good fruit or are you going to let the axe take you down?
