What amazes me about this chapter is not just how out-of-this-world the descriptions in the text are, but how we see the glory of God! I'm sure it's details painted a lovely (or fearful) illustration in your mind. What fascinates me is the worship of God. Whatever these four creatures are exactly, I'm not sure. However, they worship Him- and that's all I really need to know. Verse 8 says, "...and day and night they never cease to say..." Can you imagine- every minute of every hour of every day of every week they proclaim, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!" Now in heaven, I'm not sure how time works. I highly doubt there is a single clock there, so as far as minutes, hours, days and weeks? Probably not. But to understand that these creatures never stop praising God! Not only that- it says that whenever (which is always) the living creatures give Him glory and honor and thanks, the twenty-four elders fall down before God and worship Him too! They throw off the crowns they are wearing (which I think is symbolic for reverance and submission) and praise Him by saying, "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created." Does that shake you like it does me? God created all things! God was the reason all things were created! And because of Him they exist! Let's get personal. You were created by God and for God. And the only reason you exist is because of God.
If that doesn't humble you completely.
