Great, Amazing, Just & True

"Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty!

Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations!

Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name?

For you alone are holy.

All nations will come and worship you,

for your righteous acts have been revealed."

Do you believe this song of Moses?   Do you believe that God's deeds are great and amazing?  Do you think His ways are just and true? You would- if everyone in your family was healthy, your finances were in order and savings increasing, government was giving you money rather than taking it, your business wathriving, crops were plentiful...etc, etc.   But what about when your marriage is struggling, your daughter is off having pre-marital sex, your son is off selling marijuana, your business hasn't had income in two years, you just found out your best friend has lung cancer and golly- you OWE more taxes at the end of the year!  What then?  Could you still sing, "Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty"?

God does not plan anyone to wander from Him.  We are human, and we make our own mistakes.  God in His mercy and grace continues to pursue us, even when we choose to sin.  God doesn't want your marriage to struggle, He wants it to be united in Him and on fire!  God doesn't want your children to partake in worldly practices, He wants your children to learn by your example and love Him!  God doesn't want you to fail in your business, He wants you to be successful in all that you do!  God doesn't want your friend to have lung cancer, He would rather that all be healthy and free of any disease!  God doesn't want you to be broke and without money, He wants you to have money to provide for your family and give generously!  God in fact, planned a world much different than it is, until sin entered the world through Adam and Eve.  Now, because of sin, we have disease, debauchery, drug addictions, broken marriages and families, and finances in trouble.   And I hate to tell ya, but Adam and Eve aren't the only sinners!  Some of our choices have allowed things to happen.  And sometimes God allows things to happen, that we don't understand, to bring glory to Himself.  God might allow us to have a struggling business for a couple years to break our idolatry in our business- He might want us to completely depend on Him for financial provision.   Or, you might be a terrible steward of the money He has entrusted to you, so why would He give you more?  God might allow a marriage to undergo strife because one or both people don't follow Him, and it took breaking down the marriage to reveal Himself to them.  Or, maybe if you would stop looking at porn and be faithful to your spouse, it might be solid and healthy!  He might allow your children to experiment with the world- not because He wants you to feel like a failure as a parent, but rather, to recognize that HE alone is God and HE alone saves.  God is so good.  He is so merciful.  He pours out His grace on us- "...but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)  2 Peter 3:9 says this: "The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."  That's great, amazing, just and true.

In present times, many do not fear God.  In present times, many do not worship Him.  But in the last days, when His righteous acts are revealed, ALL will fear Him, ALL will worship Him.   "Jesus remains Lord whether you accept Him or not.  His lordship is not affected by what we choose.  But our lives are drastically changed by our choice." (Rebecca Manley Pippert, Out of the Salt Shaker and into the World)  This text says, that all will fear, glorify and worship Jesus, for He alone is holy.  When that day comes, every knee will bow, from heaven, earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.  Whether you choose to confess it now is your choice.  But if you choose not to proclaim His lordship in your life on this earth, you are choosing for Him to be your Lord when you're in hell.   It's too late then to receive eternal life in heaven.  It's too late to receive the Holy Spirit that transforms you into a new creation.  It's too late to have God do amazing things in and through you.  It's too late to receive His best for you in this life.  It's too late to receive all of His abundant blessings.  It's too late to experience His neverending mercy and overflowing grace....  It's just too late.
