9-10 ...because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
This is the basis for salvation- note: it doesn't say if you confess with you mouth and do good things according to your faith... Also note, confessing with your mouth and believing with your heart go hand and hand. Jesus called the Pharisees and scribes hypocrites because they, "honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me."
If you believe in Christ, are you ashamed to profess it with your mouth? Are you willing to face persecution because of your love for Jesus? I personally think it odd when someone says they love Jesus, but you never hear them talking about Him. I know there are people who are quiet and more private about their lives, but Jesus is not something to be quiet about! The closer you are to Jesus, the more He transforms you, the more excited you should become about it- I have a hard time not sharing what He is doing in me! I think if we love the Lord as much as we say we do, it should be overflowing into the people and world around us.
