Verses for Thought:
33 Do not be deceived: "Bad company ruins good morals."
Have you ever heard anyone say "If you want to be smart, spend time with the smartest. If you want to be rich, spend time with the richest." ? When you spend a significant amount of time with people you learn much about them. You can learn what they do, how they do it, and hopefully you can integrate their habits into your life. Well, spending time with people that are dishonorable to God may in fact pollute your life. I remember back in school, you'd spend so much time with your best friend that you would have the same thoughts; finish each others' sentences; use the same vocabulary or even start talking like each other; dress alike; like the same boy (uh-oh!) and compare your lot with theirs. Times don't change. To an extent, we still do that as adults! It sounds so elementary, but it is true. That's why it is good to be aware of with whom you spend so much time. If you want to be godly, spend time with godly people!
Lord Jesus, if there are people we are spending too much time with that we shouldn't be, I ask that you reveal it to us clearly- that our faith might not be polluted by the ungodliness of them. May you bring into our lives people that love you and are of good influence- that our faith might be strengthened through their friendship and godly example. Amen.
