2 CORINTHIANS
Chapter 4
STUDY:In the first few verses, Paul declares that he will not tamper, or water the Scriptures down, to please people in what they want to hear, rather than what they should hear. Often times, even today, people don't like the truth of the Bible, and change it to suit what they want to believe about it or Jesus.
Who do you suppose the "god of this world" is? You guessed it- Satan. He wants to blind people from seeing Jesus, and he will do whatever he can to attempt that.
Naturally, it is easier to believe in things we see, rather than having faith in the things that we can't see. But Paul truthfully says here, that the things we see are temporary, and God- who we can't see, is eternal. Therefore, it is important not to put too much trust or belief in the things we can see and trust God who is at work on things that are eternal. |
HIGHLIGHTED TEXT:And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. {Verses 3-4}
